Advanced Social Event Notice for May 09
Friday, February 13th, 2009 03:01 pmNOSTALGIC 80'S CHILDREN'S MOVIES WEEKEND!
Yup, knew you'd all like that. So I'm planning it for a weekend sometime May, because that fits in with various schedules and allows more time for ordered DVDs to arrive. It will start at about 5pm Saturday afternoon and end Sunday night, with movies stopping at midnight and starting at 10am the next day to allow for people who may not want to sleepover. I will post a schedule closer to the event of when movies will be shown, so those who may not wish to do the full stint can pick which ones they will come to.
Lists of movies so far includes:
The Princess Bride
Tron
Ladyhawke
The Dark Crystal
Labyrinth
The Goonies
The Neverending Story (possibly all three of them)
Legend
There will be allowances for about 30 minutes of leeway between movies in the schedule in case unexpected stuff happens. If there is time in these gaps, then things like The Muppet Show and Jim Henson's The Storyteller will be shown.
Everyone invited, and people can and should bring friends. I have plenty of stools, beanbags and cushions.
Comment if there's anything not on the list that you think should be, and I will track it down so it can be shown. If the list gets too big for everything to be shown, I will make some tough choices about what will have to missed.

Date: 2009-02-15 01:50 pm (UTC)So I realise everyone will have different things that they love and have nostalgia about (and it being your movie day they need to be ones you want to see!), just out of interest my ideal 12 (in a very rough order of importance) would be:
Labyrinth
The Dark Crystal
The Goonies
Stand By Me
Gremlins
The Princess Bride
Ladyhawke
The Neverending Story (just the first one)
Willow
ET
The Last Unicorn
Flight of the Navigator
With The Secret of Nimh, the Black Cauldron, Short Circuit, Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid, Back to the Future running close on their heels...
Mon it's hard to pick, there are so many good 80's kids movies...
Oh My God I'm so excited, it's going to be AWESOME!!! Yay :)
