Monday, December 12th, 2005 12:10 pmI've been having a lot of headaches for the last 6 weeks or so. Went to the doctor last Wednesday, who gave me a thing for a blood test and a cranial CT. That's the second needle for a blood test this year - more on that later. So I had the blood test last Thursday morning and the CT this morning. I took the film in to the doctor and asked the receptionist if there was any word on the blood test yet, as I was wanting to know what my blood type was - I had the doctor add the blood group test in while I was having the needle in my arm anyway. I'm O negative! I finally know what blood group I am. The receptionist said it was a good blood group because O neg can be used for any other blood group. She also said that the test showed up a severe allergy for something, but didn't know anything else because the doctor hadn't looked at it yet. I have to call back on Wednesday for further info + info about the head scan.
O Neg! Yay! I know! Coming up to 24 years old and I only just found out *heh*
As for the needle thing. Well, needles. Yes. They are pretty much on the top of my Panicky Scary Things, along with spiders. I have faced this fear twice this year now, which yes scary, but hey faced fear is good. Now I used to partake in Vampire Live action role playing, and they used to organise blood drives every so often where everyone would go and donate blood. I never partook because of the fear of needles thing, but always thought I would donate if it wasn't for that. Well I've faced this needle fear twice now, so why shouldn't I face it again and donate? I'll be freaking the whole time, but it will be a good feeling after. I have this hair-brained idea of going and donating blood for my birthday, and other people can come too if they want. Then I was thinking of going to the museum and the art gallery after. Either do that, or go to the zoo or something. Something that doesn't involve a party at my place, since I've had quite a lot of those now. I've told two or three people about my donate blood for my birthday idea now, and they have all reacted that it's a weird and macabre idea, but the idea is really growing on me. What do you all think?

Date: 2005-12-12 03:45 pm (UTC)I donated blood for the first time this year with my friend Jess at uni (and found out, in doing so, that I'm O positive. I too had always wondered but never found out!). I was kinda freaked about the idea before I did it, but once I'd done it it did feel really good. I reckon it also made it heaps easier to be doing it with someone (and someone who was also a little scared). So yeah, even if you decide you don't want to do it as a birthday thing I'd be happy to go with you sometime...actually I've been meaning to go for ages...
