Birthday, Bird, Food, Movie.
Sunday, July 20th, 2008 11:39 amLast night was Zig's birthday and, since it was on a Saturday, we had a party. We've gotten quite good at throwing parties now. The spit had three kinds of meat on it, cooked to deliciousness. I bought a chicken too, to make a fourth kind of meat. Salad was made, vegies were roasted in the spit, and broccoli was steamed. All very delicious. Zig has been making homebrew beer lately. There were three batches ready to drink, one still a little green, and two still in the fermenters. So most people drank homebrew. We had a fire in a 44 gallon drum too, many jokes about being hobos were made. Dessert was fruit salad, custard, and carrot cake. Zig's favourite cake is a heavy moist carrot cake - which this one wasn't, but was nevertheless was at least not light and fluffy. Last person left about 2am.
I found cold and hungry weero (cockatiel) at work a few weeks back. Managed to catch it and bring it home. It took half a week to get back to looking perky. I didn't search for the owner as hard as I probably should've, but I did put some notices up on online message boards and the like. Foolish, because noone answered and now I have lots of spam in my gmail spam trap :/ However a week ago someone contacted me through one of them, and offered to take the bird should an owner have not been found. I agreed this would be fabulous. Hopefully she will come around today, as the poor bird spends all its time locked in a room with only a radio for company because our cat has the run of the house and likes to hunt.
I've been playing with my food intake lately and as a result I will hopefully lose a little bit of weight. I'm usually fairly cruisey about my weight, but after viewing my school ball photos a month ago and comparing the before and after, I figured I should probably do something to halt the continual slow slide up clothe sizes. This may or may not work, however an unexpected side benefit has presented itself. So far, I seem to have found myself less stressed out. I usually only work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturdays. This week I worked Wednesday and Thursday as well, plus I had something to attend/do on every night of the week too. Usually working the full week leaves me really glad that Sunday has arrived, but this week I'm relaxed and easy and ready to work a full week next week too. Excellent! I was not able to keep myself to a good food intake this week though, since meals were all over the place, but hopefully I can discipline myself to get back on the track, as being able to cope better than usual is a novel experience and one I like. Ideal food intake at the moment is mainly: take my enzymes morning and night, eat less pasta and bread, stop eating when I'm full, eat more healthily, somehow convince myself to drink more water, eat less/no lollies/snacks after dinner at night.
Saw "The Dark Knight". It was awesome. AWESOME. There were a few moments when I had trouble keeping my eyes open to watch some small squeamish bits though, but it was totally worth it. For all those that keep asking "what about Heath Ledger?", well that happened post-production, so did not affect the movie in any way other than sadly.
