Emeralds, Skirts, and other little things.
Tuesday, May 17th, 2005 08:59 amTime for the attempt to fit eveything that has happened into one entry! Yay!
*heh* I should remember how to do an lj-cut. Right now I have to look it up in the FAQs again everytime I need it.
The story of Emeralds:
It was a Tuesday night. A dream came upon me, involving medieval battles, fae people, shops, and the searching of the perfect emerald to buy. I'll spare you the details of that, but the point is that I woke up on Wednesday morning going 'must...get....emerald'. Very strong compulsion.
Wednesday during my lunch break, I wandered around the 4-5 jewellery shops at Westfield Innaloo, but found nothing I liked at all.
Thursday at late night shopping, I wandered around the 6-8 jewellery shops at Centro Galleria (Morley), and again, found nothing I liked, although there was one that was alright. Gotta be better than alright with that much money involved though.
Friday night, I was on my way home after finishing another activity I had done after work. On impluse, I decided to swing past the city. I looked through the jewellery shops there -there are lots- and again found nothing. I had pretty much given up and was about to leave for home when I saw one last shop. Thought I might as well look, since I'd looked everywhere else. There! In the window! Could it possibly be? My emeralds! YAY! It was a glamiferous pendant with three bigger emerald and four tiny emeralds on it. The window price said $219, and later on into the proceedings of buying the pendant, I saw it had been marked down from $299. Here's the trippy stuff though: That day only was a 20% discount on all coloured stones, which made it $180-ish. Not only that, but they were having a special which consisted of people buying over $100 worth of stuff picking a flower, and a discount was written in it. I picked a 15% flower, knocking the pendant down to $150! I asked them if it was one of the higher discount, and they said yes. From $219 to $150 is mind-boggling awesome, but given that the small print said it had started at $299 - that's half price right there.
The synchronicity was amazing, and I love my new emerald pendant. I wear it almost eveyday now, so I'll most likely be wearing it whenever I see anyone who reads this. Yay emeralds!
Skirts:
I love tiered skirts. The ones which flounce out and slowly increases size at each flounced level. They've been around for a little bit, but they've all been three-quarter length. I'm too short for three-quarter to look any good on me. Just over a month ago, I found a beeyootiful black tiered skirt which was full length. Score! Those who know my love of op-shops and my puzzlement at how much other people can spend on clothes will be amazed to know I spent $50 on this skirt. Shocked me too, but oh! skirt love. Wore/am wearing it an obscene amount. The further good news is that they are actually in fashion, so I'm actually in fashion for once. Heh, not something that usually happens to me. I found two more full-length tiered skirts on the same night as the emeralds, so now I'm in tiered skirts a lot. My credit card has not been paid off in full for a few weeks now, what with buying pretty stuff, my car rego, and other things. I'm doing my best to curb further consurism tendencies until I can catch up to $0 on my credit card again. I keep finding stuff I have to have though. Must be something in the water, I'm not usually this impulsively consumeristic.
I ordered the first season of Charmed. I love fantasy, even when the shows are cheesy.
I need to organise a party again sometime. I haven't seen you all for way too long.
I'm going on a retreat soon! A whole week down in Eagle bay, leaving after work on the 28th, and returning June 3rd at night, just in time to work the Saturday the next day.
I'm sure there's other stuff, but at least I have now spoken after a long silence, and I need to leave for work. Oh, speaking of work, I should say about what happened yesterday. Hope I get around to doing that before I don't. *snerk*
NB: This post has not been proof-read. Please be gentle.
