Sunday, March 16th, 2008 09:51 pmAlright, I've been meaning to post for over a month now. Here goes.
Got my engagement ring back, seven weeks after I first took it in. It's not as pretty as when it first went in because they did a few bodgy tricks, but overall it looks fine and it didn't wiggle, so I accepted it anyway. The emerald has a slight stiff back and forth occasionally that has developed since, but I'm convinced it's confined within the setting and so am mostly content with the matter. It's been marvellous to have it back on my finger again, although now I have to be aware of it before I do things like swim in the ocean or eat a dribbly mango with that hand.
Car got fixed. Can not currently be bothered telling that story, but it's been mighty fine to be in travelling air-con again these past two or so weeks.
Today I obtained my brother's reliable diesel car which sits at my parents usually, and filled the tank in preparation for this year's road trip. I had planned to go to Geraldton for my Easter trip this year, however they do not have a backpackers there. Upon looking at Google Maps I saw that Monkey Mia was only another 5 hours (on top of the 5 to get to Geraldton) so I thought I'd go there as well. On Thursday night I booked online with backpackers in Monkey Mia for Easter Friday and Saturday night, however I will call sometime tomorrow to confirm my booking I think, because I know they were fairly full on that Friday and I don't know how instant the online form is. I asked for confirmation to be sent by email, but haven't heard anything either way. The decision to make now is whether to drive the full 10/11 hours to Monkey Mia on the Friday, or drive to Geraldton on Thursday afternoon and continue the next day. I'll be taking a tent so that I can pitch it in a caravan park in Geraldton on the Sunday night - definitely will be breaking the home trip into half. Plan to also see the Pinnacles at Numbung Park on my way home on Monday. According to Google Maps they are 3 1/2 hrs from Perth and 4 hrs from Geraldton, time variance probably because of detouring off the major highways and such.
Made a head wreath out of rosemary for a thing I went to on Saturday night. Was a little concerned I might be sick of the smell by the end, but the fragrance stayed lovely to my senses all night.
I try to at some point eventually watch movies which are popular with quotes and such, depending on the genre of course. A couple of weeks ago I watched Saturday Night Fever. It went along quite dandily, and then the last 20 odd minutes or so were pure we-beat-you-over-the-head-with-the-mind-fuck-stick-constantly-now. I don't recommend watching it if you want to retain a resemblance sanity and peace of mind for roughly an hour after it finishes. Tonight I just watched Dirty Harry. I'm not sure what to make of it exactly, but I've now watched the famous quotes. I was happier after watching Dirty Harry than after watching The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly a couple of years back. Now _that_ was a movie whose point seemed to be to waste a bunch of people's time making them following a 10 minute story spun into movie length with an unsatisfying ending.
Apple tea made from a tissane is good.
That'll do for an update I guess. Love most of you, like the rest mostly ;)
