Mishaps

A string of occurances happened this week which I find amusing when lined up together.
1) I lost my mobile phone
2) My car died
3) A favourite glass got smashed
4) My mum was in an accident - she's alright, but her car will most likely be written off by the culprit's insurance.
5) My insurance company sent out the wrong phone, resulting in delayed mobile.

It's quite funny to see what can happen in a week.

So, the mobile saga. I filed the police report, which I found out later I could have done by calling the 131444 number instead of visiting stations, then called up and placed my insurance claim. They were really helpful and the claim went through with ease. They suggested a model I may like the replace my phone with since my old model was no longer available. I spent Monday afternoon looking at that one model and decided it would be fine - a Nokia 6233 to replace my 6230i. Called up next morning to give the go ahead and nominate a store I'd like it to be sent to. Was told it should only take 2-3 days to arrive. "Beauty," I thought, "I'll have my phone soon, especially before the weekend." Upon calling the store today to see if it might have arrive, I was informed that it was true a phone had arrived for me, however the insurance company had sent out a different model, not the model I asked for. Insurance people had realised their mistake already and had organised a courier to collect the phone and return it to them before sending out the proper one. Still, I am without a mobile for yet longer. Current day is likely to be Wednesday or Thursday next week. Yes, I can do without one, but it's just so convenient to have one. Other than the big reasons such as if my car breaks down or whatever, the smaller things such as me getting somewhere to buy dinner and them being out of Zig's choice or meeting up with friends and them running late are less readily solved too. Shall be glad to have the security blanket of my phone back again soon.

With regards to my mum, she was going through an intersection late Tuesday afternoon and some idiot in a V8 must have thought he had a green arrow or something and pulled out in front of her and the bunch of traffic that was behind her. Without detailing every nitty gritty detail, he hit her front right quite hard in his quickly accelerated vehicle. She was able to walk after, but within a few minutes it was decided to ambulance her to the hospital just in case. X-rays and an extra hour of observation later, Mum managed to avoid getting dumped into hospital overnight. She left with her right foot in a cast because of a centimetre chip on her ankle bone, plenty of bruising everywhere including nasty ones from the life-saving seatbelt, and a hairline crack in her sternum between the fifth and sixth rib. They had debated about crutches or wheelchair, but Mum pushed them for crutches. A wheelchair wouldn't work in my parent's house anyway, no room for it as well as a step or two in places. She spent Wednesday mostly in bed but was feeling better on Thursday to be able to do a few things in the morning around the house (I was there at that time helping lots) before retiring back to bed in the afternoon. The medical people were all amazed that she wasn't in shock and such, but Mum reckons her body was in the best state it could have been for such an accident since she'd been eating a lot of greens and raw foods in the fortnight prior, thus resulting in a clear head to be able to remember details and no shock to worry about.
