ByeBye Mobile

Lost my mobile last night. I was on a dance floor (a rare occurance these days despite my enjoyment of such) and it came out of my purse at some point between 10:30pm when I stopped checking on it and 11:15pm when I sat down and looked in my purse. I went looking for it, but it could have been kicked anywhere by the hordes of dancers with vigorous feet. I gave as much info as I could for lost&found but no joy.

So I called it this morning from the number listed as "Home" on my mobile, on the off-chance someone had picked it up. It rang two rings and then went to the unavailable message. Upon calling again a few times since, it now goes straight to the unavailable message. This indicates strongly that someone has it that doesn't want to hand it back. Fortunately, I have insurance. I called Optus last night and blocked all outgoing call and SMSs so I won't get a big bill courtesy of Finders Keepers person. Apparently I just have to file a police report to be able to claim on the insurance. I was on the police website earlier and it doesn't seem show any forms for a lost item, just stolen and such - so I'm a bit confused as to what report I can/should file. I'm planning to go to the station later this afternoon and ask them. I think there's one in Perth that is open on weekends as well as weekdays. Alas, while the phone may be replaced, all my numbers are gone and I have no idea how to get some of them back. Will cross that hurdle once I have a mobile again.
