Children Shows
Wednesday, November 9th, 2005 04:17 pmI have to share this horror. I switched on the TV for 5 minutess viewing before leaving for work yesterday morning. Sporadic past experience has taught me that there is never anything on between 8:30am and 9am except on channel 2. On channel 2 they were just finishing up Elmo's World, which is a crappy segment that screens at the end of Sesame Street these days. At the end of the segment, I think he usually sings a song, from memory comprised of one word repeated over and over. Yesterday morning the tune he was singing to was Jingles Bells, which is reason enough to dislike it, but the word he was singing was "fishes". Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it goes one fish, two fish and it does not go one fish, two fishes. The whole new generation of children watching this show are going to grow up and say fishes. Children TV shows have a responsibilty to get the bloody words right, godammit. The English speech is going down the toilet, fast.
Also, my workmate would like to comment that her friend doesn't like Winnie the Pooh because he _still_ hasn't learnt how to put on pants, and he should have type 1 diabetes after eating nothing but honey all these years.
