Hit it!

So, this whole last week I've been in sales at work. No more organising orders for couriers to pick-up, or answering the phonecalls that the sales people are too busy to pick up. No sir, I _am_ one of those sales people that are too busy to pick up the phone now.

When they hired me, they were looking for someone to do sales. They ended up putting me into where they put me, and the guy who was there before went into the sales gap. He turned out to suck too much. Chatting to the customers when he had work that should've been done instead. Chatting is alright, but only if you haven't got other stuff to be doing. He also did things like put the internal modem on the written order form, but leaving it out when he put it through the computer, thus causing the customer to be angry that they didn't get what they paid for. Also, a lot of little other things like that, which are small to do and easy to forget, but cause a lot of trouble in the works if they aren't done.

So I've been in sales. I was a little nervous about selling things which weren't compatible, but I've sorted out what cpu is able to go with what motherboard now, so no more nervousness about that. Also, I've been remembering all the little things the other guy didn't. The boss actually told me on Saturday after close that he liked how I was doing. Now all I got to do is get faster at it, and get better at making indecisive customer either make a decision or get out of the way so I can serve the next customer. All in all, it caused stress at the start of the week, but I'm starting to relax into it, and I'm even starting to enjoy it a little.

In other news, Z's birthday is on Monday. We had a party last night, involving alcohol, poker, and a ping pong table we set up in our loungeroom. It was on special at K-mart, a put-it-together-yourself kit, so he got it yesterday afternoon and put it together. Ping pong has turned out to be more fun than I remembered, so Zig and I are playing at all sorts of odd times when we have nothing else to do. Everyone who came to his party last night enjoyed it too. He got a new most awesome tool bag set from one person, and a pressure cooker from his mother. He's happy, cos now he can cook good stews and soups. I got him the last four seasons of X-files for his present. They were cheap enough for me to afford it, and they complete his/"our" collection of the X-files dvds. I pre-ordered them back at the beginning of June, and they'll become available and will therefore arrive sometime around July 28th.

Meanwhile, my keyboard died. Well, it's still functioning, but it's still dead enough that I've bought a new one (yet to be installed). A whole clump of keys decide to not work every so often, and I have to repeatedly press them before they work again, only to have them die again a few minutes later. The affected keys from memory, (I'm on Z's comp, not my own), are "5 e r t d f x c v" Very irksome keys. "E" is a letter which gets used a lot, and no "c" or "v" means I can't copy and paste words either. Well, there's the mouse, but I have a few places on the internet which don't allow mouse copy and paste, but do allow it with the keyboard.

Two weeks ago I got a new mobile phone. Telstra Pre-paid changed enough for me to get pissed off at them, and so I am now on the Optus $22 plan, which got me a new phone. I chose the Sony Ericsson, or however you spell that without checking, which is one of those flip top phones. I could have chosen a Nokia, which had a camera, but I don't know of enough friends that have photo capabilities on their phones to make it worth while. True, I could have bought a cable which would have allowed me to transfer photos to my computer, but that would have cost me over $100, so no. I was enchanted by the flip thing on the Sony Ericsson anyway. So far, I'm happy with my choice, and the phone is all much coolness and joy to play with.

My anniversary with Zig was on June 11th. It's now been 6 years. Since my ug boots had completely and utterly died a month before, I asked for new ug boots as my present. I have wonderful, black, above-the-ankle, real sheepskin ugs now which are wonderfully soft, warm, and gorgeous. Much love. I got him the latest Stephen King book in the Dark Tower series for Z. He'd been wanting it, but not wanting to pay the price of hard cover. I solved his confliction and bought it for him. <3 you lots Z

Travelling? Friend the First went to Melbourne. Friend the Second went to Melbourne and then Japan with partner. Friends the Third and Fourth are planning to go to New Zealand for their honeymoon next year. Myself? Well, not much travelling other than commuting from Bassendean to Osborne Park and back for work 6 days a week. Good news is that Z doesn't mind the idea of going to New Zealand for our honeymoon when we eventually get married in lots of years (I learned scant days later that Friends the Third and Fourth were planning to go there). Whoo! I loved New Zealand when I went there last time. It's good to know I'll get to see it again.

Well, see you all again when I manage to win the battle with procrastination and update once more.
